9/10 Great box, fun to use, fine price, software needs some tweaks

I've got the Kodak Home Theater HD Player hooked up to a 50-inch LCD and wow, amazing colors, amazing interface, fun remote. Pros include: - Easy to use - Freespace Wii-like remote - consolidates audio, podcast, video, image content in one place - Links to online content - Reasonable price - Great gift for anyone with a digital camera Cons include: - No network drive mounting (can't link to Microsoft Homeserver, for instance) - Minor issues with iTunes covers but they gave me a software patch so that should be fixed - No access to other apps like an apps library -- they have a great box, great interface, why can't I access Hulu or Amazon VoD on this? With more apps this would be THE killer product on the market for this space. For 99% of the people the above cons are non-issues, I'm just picky. If this could be a 9.5 I would make it a 9.5. I don't do 10s.
9/10 Kodak Theatre Advantages
Gable - 03/04/09
The Theatre Player is one of the most user friendly set-top boxes on the market. While most are for the technically inclined, the Kodak player is a cool addition for your family's big screen TV. Key advantages are: - Very easy access to your photos and music on your home PC. They look great on the big screen and it's the best on-screen navigation for hundreds, even thousands of photos or songs. Works with iTunes too. - Best YouTube on TV. Period. Several reviewers have noted that the image quality is surprisingly good considering the source. But I think they underestimate the role of the pointer remote in making YouTube on TV a really fun activity. - The Pointer remote changes everything. No more tedious scrolling through endless text menus with left-right, up-down remotes. Just point and click. The mouse changed computers forever, and it's clear when you use the Theatre player that the same thing will happen on TVs. Family friendly and revolutionary. Pretty neat.
