Copy/Paste is inter-process on the iPhone, but...
No copy and paste and no backgrounding: these are
consequences of compromises Apple made in order to
manage memory and optimize telephony, e-mail, and
music. (It could also be these were held in reserve to have
some sizzle to sell with iPhone OS 3.) As with any choices,
these may be criticized and ultimately proven incorrect.

I suspect that Citrix has a strategy that may involve its own
virtual keyboard. Since the memory and the processor of
the iPhone are insufficient for a full powered desktop app
(and the size of the screen would cause items either to be
very cluttered or portholed, every bit a usability problem as
lack of copy/paste), the Receiver has to be strictly i/o to
the server. It seems possible, then, to put copy/paste up
there as well and then the problem reduces to indicating a
selection and then effecting the action. Whether the whole
thing is practical will speak to their engineers' and
interface designers' talents.
