Solutions for mobility
Dan's observation that virtualization proposals should factor in the needs of the mobile user, and avoid multiple solutions for different classes of user, has resonance all the way back to IT asset management fundamentals such as Inventory and Application Usage Monitoring. At Vector Networks we found it essential to integrate our new Web-based architecture with our traditional LAN/WAN architecture in such a way that information was delivered to management consistently and irrespective of whether the user was essentially LAN-based or mobile. In many instances, a user sits in both categories - LAN-based at either one corporate location or another for 85% of the time, somewhere else (potentially overseas) the rest of the time.
