default greeting
With ATT, at least, I only get the greeting you describe if there's no customized greeting set up for the person being called, otherwise I hear the person's greeting, then the beep.

Even with the canned greeting, you can usually bypass by pressing 1.

This is a non-issue as far as I'm concerned.
