Yup, Maxtor wasn't as reliable as Seagate

Maxtor has been on my hate list since 2001 or so. That was when I realized that every HP or Compaq computer that I was working on that had reliability or straight hard drive problems had a Maxtor in it. Once I started paying attention, I realized that those drives were dying within 1 month of the end of warrantee on the hard drive/system. I had something like 20 20GB or 40GB hard drives die 1 year and 1 month into their service life. In the meantime I had a 8GB Seagate drive I bought back in 1998 that lived in various personal system builds until 2004 or so when it refused to take a format anymore. The drive still runs and accepts data, but it can't be formatted anymore. It was retired with honor, not tossed in the trash with the Maxtors.
