I had to deal with the WD " click of death " by busting my butt over a weekend at JDE...so I know drive failures in a big company cost..

I still prefer PATA and SCSI-3 over SATA drives because of a proven track record, something SATA doesn't have yet. My backups are over several specialized servers in my house. ( I have more server stuff than most Mal-Warts; I know this as a fact )
SCSI RAID5 works for me with older drives; I have had more fails with the newer ones ( especially " recertified " drives ) including infant mortality and DOA. This was not the case 5 years ago. Both Seagate and WD. Maxtor is only in non critical areas with backups.

It looks like I will wait on >500GB drives a while longer..
