Whichever way the studios went, that would be the future. Toshiba was depending on the lower cost of both production and consumer machines to sway the studios, and from a money standpoint, it seemed logical.

But the counter by Sony to put Blu-Ray in the PS3s worked - people who had consoles eventually started trying out Blu-Ray, and those were the numbers the studios paid attention to.
