as far as I can tell...
iTunes and now Safari are mainly ways of offering Windows users a taste of the MacOS
interface. Safari had no reason to have dialogs fold out of the top of the screen, other
than to make pretty and show off what's normal to Mac users.

I think the software supports the hardware sales, not vice versa. I doubt Apple will be
using this to offer their OS on other people's machines any time soon, more likely it
will be used for non-destructive upgrades and migrations.
