Turn off FB emails
I turned off all Facebook email notifications. I got tired of wading through them all. As a result, I won't get any emails from FB except the rare administrative missive. I also keep the number of applications I allow to manageable proportions (1 page). If I decide to allow an application access to my profile and it does anything suspicious (such as not working), I remove it immediately. That may not prevent access to my profile, but makes it harder to fool me with bogus messages.
