It's not a bug, it's a feature...
Whom to believe when stories like this come out... I suppose it's better being safe than sorry and assume that this is an exploitable bug until there is some actual proof out there to the contrary. And no, a vendor spokesperson making a claim that it isn't does not constitute proof.
