PCs Need Protection from their Software
Microsoft just reported that roughly 90% of reported vulnerabilities were in applications. The familiar signature-based tools that live on nearly every PC are missing today's malware designed to elude them. More on that here:

The above would probably (don't like absolute statements) prevent the attacked Acrobat from doing harm to the PC.
