Alex Sotirov suggested removing this functionality in one of the DD discussions on this topic, but it was pointed out that this trust model may be required to be able to make rapid changes to DNS entries in the event of a DDOS attack or during migrations. Basically, some of the big players availability might be hurt pretty badly if they did not have the ability to make rapid changes to DNS.
