RE: Airport security part 4: Attack of the body scanners!
Excellent observation. Terrorist killed nearly 3000 people on 9-11-2001 and a little more since then but not that much more (ie Bali Disco) but we kill more people internally with other implements (ie guns, cars, bare hands, etc.) then that each year which the politician make us ignore in the name of "searching for terrorist". I know terrorist are bad and we need to stop them but we, as Americans, kill ourselves faster than terrorist are then we need to focus on other things that kills (or harm) us that as much as on the terrorist.
When I was in Washington, DC for my brief (thank God) stay as an Air Force Officer I remember that Washington, DC loves keyword and today it is "Terrorism" but we loose focus on other things like Hurricane Katrina and today floods & economy. We appear to have become an "single minded" society and the real world that we all live in is more than that but the marketing people and politicians forces us to live in this "single minded" world.
Like computer security, no one factor is an breach of security but many factors so we, as computer security people need to look at all all possible factors (ie networks, poorly implemented operating systems, social engineering, etc.) to thwart all possible attacks on our systems.
