A 100% reliable solution to stopping spam is to move to PGP or OpenPGP (e.g. Gnu Privacy Guard) with signed certificates.

As such, the spam will be excluded from your trusted PGP encrypted 'channel' and you can safely ignore.

Until this becomes mandated, you'll be left to your devices to fend off spam.

Mine is:

1) Gmail IMAP to a Kmail client
2) Kmail integrated SpamAssassin and ClamAV
3) Kmail integrated GPG support

Most of the time Gmail shunts spam to the bit bucket but when it doesn't SpamAssassin (spamd daemon service) does an excellent job of trapping what got by Gmail.

Be Safe!
