running a secure browser
For a long time I have only used IE to go to the MS download page to download something I need, for instance the Power Point Viewer.
FireFox is OK, but it too has problems.
I like Opera, it is free and does a great job for me. Perhaps not for you, but I like it. It too has some leaks.
Someone else here actually pinpointed the problem, not so much the browsers as it is the Internet and the choices we make. I refuse to run IE in the so called secure mode. It cuts to much into where I want to go to do that. Sites that I believe are safe. I have two - make that 3 malware (not antiviruses one is enough and it is never perfect either)that will tell me do not go there, but sometimes they give a false positive. It is all up to the computer operator and we will get some bad stuff occasionally. That is the nature of the web unfortunately. We are not idiots, we use the internet to surf the sites, no matter how careful we are if we really want to surf we will get a virus or other malware occasionally. I average about 1 or 2 per year. Since 1994 I have not had anything that nuked my computer, but some sure made it sick for a while, yes. Just surf have fun but THINK, as IBM used to say, as we surf. And if it seems to good to be true don't go there.
