Useless for apps that don't use SSE
SSE is great for desktop apps like games and video processing, but is useless for most commercial server apps.

Penryn will have a much bigger cache, which will help some business apps.

For commercial workloads, Penryn looks like Intel applied similar concepts to the Core 2 architecture it applied to the Netburst architecture to get the Xeon 7100: Die shrink, faster clock, bigger cache.
