Where's the sense of urgency, you ask? Quad-core chips will be confined to the high-end of the market for some time, Demski said, as certain types of software play catch-up.

It would stand to reason, as we have just barely tapped the dual cores as it is. 'Software lagging behind' is becoming a fait accompli and largely par for the course these days.
