Will the Real Email Reputation Services Please Stand Up?
Hi Maureen,

Thank you for writing another excellent post. What *is* the definition of an email reputation?

Much like anti-spam tools in the early days of 2002, the definition of reputation services varies greatly amongst the vendors described in your post. You inspired me to break them down in Habeas? blog ? Inbox Chronicles - to further the discussion - and perhaps stir up a bit of controversy.

Anti-spam technologies create ?negative reputation? systems by observing the bad and ugly of email senders. Goodmail, meanwhile, as a technology has nothing whatsoever to do with reputation systems, services or technologies.

Habeas, and our e-marketing based counterparts at ReturnPath, have a more holistic approach. Here at Habeas we observe hundreds of millions of senders daily - their infrastructure, practices, and sending behaviors - and we are able to attribute a multi-faceted reputation to a sender that takes into account a whole host of factors.

Best,
J.F. Sullivan, VP of Marketing for Habeas
