I must admit that I continue to be astonished by the fascination that you have with the Palo Alto SAP organization. While lots of "shiny objects" and flashy initiatives have been prototyped over the years at huge cost to SAP, the actual deliverables and results are very suspect (remember Duet?). In fact, it is the boring and mundane activities associated with the core business and the impact of the acquisitions that has had a greater impact on revenue growth and customer retention. Much of what Palo Alto creates is analogous to the iPhone beer app. The fat and waste surrounding the ecosystem (which is/was a great idea, but is frought with excess and massive egos) is deplorable. It will not survive the microscope.

If SAP was looking to cut cost with negligible impact on output, Palo Alto would be a good place to start. Leo will not tolerate spending without customer value/revenue impact, and too many of the "feelgood" programs hosted in Palo Alto are merely internal love fests and a manifestation of the historic wastefulness of the valley.
