Mike Krigman's words made me gasp - sorta...
Do you have any idea of how many times I have heard "But he's just technical." when I tried to convince somebody in the "decision-making culture of the business" to do something better - or at least not do something stupid?

And now Mr. Krigsman is making it sound like we were hidden away in our "ivory tower"????

We in IT have a unique perspective on the business - we see an awful lot of the real numbers. I always got the distinct impression that made the various departmental heads extremely nervous, as we could quickly point out any discrepencies between what they were saying and the reality of the business.

That, at least in my opinion, is why businesses rarely hear any opposition - particularly from other "department heads" - when somebody suggests IT outsourcing or offshoring.

lolll...I certainly only hid in the "ivory tower" after I had committed career suicide by making the error of speaking too much truth.
