Gee, that's the way web services work...how's that unique to Google Apps/Sites/Whatever?

Maybe I've suddenly gone dumber than usual but pray... how's that different from any other garden variety SAAS framework ? (e.g. salesforce.com) Sometimes you're given the chance to have your data (financial or otherwise) on a DBMS at the infrastructure provider, which does not strike me as improved security.

People who do not like this (and I am not particularly taken by the entire SAAS hullabaloo myself, but that's OT) will have to buy a box (though not a Google one, yet) install/run/manage etc. That's soooooooo web1.0, though.
