Why financials is (relatively) straightforward and the rest is hard
It has nothing to do with being business orientated.

Accounting has a well defined set of rules defined by the good Senor Pacioli back in the 16th century.

Therefore it is relatively easy to computerise.

Everything else is much less formal and therefore harder.

Workday seem rather seriously on the wrong track both from the point of view of their method of describing the business and their data management methods (the two go hand in hand really). I expect little of interest from them.
