W7: Whose ideas?
It is pretty clear that Apple and Microsoft "borrow" from each other. I
don't think that's a problem, all competitors "borrow" each others'
ideas and the consumer wins.

What is clear, though, is that Microsoft did listen to alot of people but
it wasn't those people that use Vista, it was those people that
abandoned Windows for Mac OS X. The whole Task Bar, Jump list,
Recent stuff stuff really has Apple's innovations written all over them.

Microsoft doesn't have to really please it's loyal base, those 65% of
folks that are so uncomfortable with computers anyway that they
would never consider learning something new (like my parents in their
80's).

No, Microsoft is listening to the switchers, the 50% of Mac buyers that
are new to the platform.

In MS numbers, 1.5 million people in 3 months may not seem like a
lot but MS could very well bleed 6 - 7 million customers over the next
year in now that W7 is out and people see that it's still Windows.

There will be Blue Screens of Death, there will be virus and security
issues and there will be Safari on the desktop in Europe.

Apple won't do anything about it. Every new version of Windows has
resulted in a sales bump for Apple. I think W7 has a good chance of
keeping more people in the platform than Vista did but the trend is to
Apple: one company doing hardware and software, doing them
extremely well at a great price.
