do you really think that people will rush to their next best buy to make
a clean install on their old xp hardware? do you think corporations will
want the hassle of clean installs on their xp hardware? never going to
happen. windows 7 is a non event in the consumer and corporate it
world. people will upgrade when buying new hardware, not anytime
sooner.
believe it or not 2009 is the beginning of the end of microsoft. here
are my predictions:
first they will close or sell their entertainment divison. after almost a
decade and billions of dollars sinked into it, shareholders will demand
an end to this madness.
second they will close or sell their online-division. same story as
above only the loss is even higher (1.4 bn loss in 2009 alone).
the windows and office business will shrink from now on thanks to the
shift to cloud computing, the netbook and stronger and mostly
cheaper or even free competition.
the server business will expand (microsoft has a strong, even
technological lead here) but of course this won't compensate the
shrinking revenue and profits from windows and office.
in the best case scenario microsoft in five years is a server/backend
company, half the size of today (and without the bald clown of
course), probably it is irrelevant. if you think this will never happen:
microsoft's profits shrank 30% last quarter alone. a few more of these
quarters and there will be no profits left. - Posted by: elllroy Posted on: 09/15/09 (Edited: 09/15/2009 @ 03:02) You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
