Why not SourceForge??
If MS really wanted to start the process of joining the open source community, then they wouldn't have started CodePlex... they would've contributed, instead, to SourceForge or Github or Launchpad, which are already clear leaders in this field. No, MS wants to make it *look* like they support open source (but free software no so much) but only if they can make big PR splashes about it. Which removes most of the credibility. They want to make it look like they invented open source, the same way they joined Al Gore by inventing the Internet.
