Vista a Proven Product - As strange as it sounds
With Vista approaching 3 years on the market this fall, its actually got a lot going for it. Corporations which are slow to do roll outs of new releases to begin with are more likely to sway towards Vista with SP2 while they continue doing more Windows 7 test, post RTM. I spoke with the MIS Manager at a Company I did some work for back in October 2008 and asked him about his thoughts on Windows 7 and he said, not on our deployment strategies for now. He said 'I plan on deploying Vista everywhere when SP2, hits', that is how we do it, we always wait on SP2. With Windows 7's first Service Pack at least 12 to 15 months away from RTM (Vista SP1 came out in March 2008, Vista RTMed November 2006), a large sum of customers I believe won't deploy Windows 7 until 2012 at least.

The good thing though, there will be no need for hesitation like there was between XP and Vista since the transition from Vista to 7 will be smoother, then again, are IT managers looking into upgrading in the near future after spending a considerable amount of time already rolling out Windows Vista? The good thing, the Windows user base is varied and large and Microsoft has a confident consumer market that is definitely yearning for the upgrade. I know I am.
