Huh?
Gates was a ledgendary (and incendary) leader for the majority of his time at MS. However, as he started the process of disentangling himself from the company, there was an expected lull in the company's focus and direction.

However, over the last year, MS has made a dramatic improvements. Some will take some time to deliver noticeable results, but one of the first you WILL see is the result of massive changes in the Windows group and their latest creation, Windows7.

Expect good things also from Visual Studio 2010, Office 2010, SQL 2010, Exchange 2010 and others.

MS is firing on all cylinders right now - the results should soon become evident.

Oh ... and as for Microsoft's ad campaigns being a "total disaster", I suggest you're missing the point - the Bill & Jerry ad's were just to get people talking and expecting "something" and the PH Hunter ads have won numerous accolated and have perceptably shifted the "perception meter".
