Change happens not only from inside...
I remember Bill is placed high on 50 most fascinating people in the last 25 years. Steve is not there. If your intent is to compare these two people, story ends here. How would anybody put their resume against Bill Gates? Unfair.

That said, Steve Baller has done a great job. The things you have listed in your article, not one thing is a smal feat. I do noticed since storms of people change and layoff anouncement, obviously, Baller wants to build a working environment of his own. I have also realized these two people don't have whole lot of difference in major issues. One thing is certain, if Bill is not very comfortable with Steve any time, even now, they wouldn't work together, yes i do think they are still working together.

I think a lot changes happening not only from internal, it is also coming from market change. They need to adjust no matter who is in charge. Do you think all these changes made without Bill involved? I don't think so. I do remeber that in Bill Gate's speed before and after retirement, he has hinted changes in the techn world.

Regarding Ozzie, in order for him to talk like Gates, he needs to change the world like Gates did with Windows. This hasn't happen yet. I have to say chance is low. I just don't see the cloud can be a main platform within our life time. However, Ozzie is already a highly respected tech pioneer. His profile only goes higher with Microsoft.

The only cloud over Micrsoft's sky is search, I hope people understand what i am talking about. With Bing, this should change.

FOB, nice word, but I would't put much importance on it.
