What a Lie - er
Interesting that you used the word "Lie" to preface all of Opera's statements. Yeah, I know it's the guy's name and all, but . . .

Most people point toward the W3C for web "standards" - but the W3C is NOT a standards organization. Maybe it SHOULD be, but they are not.

But web standards are NOT constantly in flux! That is an obfuscating statement not supported by facts. The W3C comes up with a web standard - and it becomes "set in stone" after a beta period. If there are changes/updates they are put in an add-on standard (CSS v1,v2,v3).

M$ does need to do more to show support for standards and to move away from creating unilateral "working standards" for IE only. This includes making sure that their tools (like FrontPage) generate real web standard code (new versions).

It should be in M$ best interest to get out of the web standards business. Their moves into the search and cloud computing space demand that they interface with other vendor's browsers. Their need to cut out the fat of their overblown bureaucracy, to make their timetables faster on new products.

So how should this Opera thing play out? M$ pays a fine and does what it was going to do anyway - move toward web standards and get out of that business.
