- RE: It takes a lot to dismantle an Empire
-
I suspect that MS would be happy to lay off 10% of
their stuff and replace that with fresh graduates
featuring higher IQ
Microsoft HR people complained
a lot last year that the coolest programmers don't
want to work for MS anymore. Being Russian I do not
understand US law so I just have to agree with Mini-
Microsoft that such kind of "layoff" is not going to
happen.
The most idiotic thing I've seen in last 10 years in
IT industry is a positive reaction of Wall Street on
mass firing of engineers in an IT company. I think
even poorly managed companies do not have more than
10% of fat. Losing one engineer is typically a small
disaster both for a product and the company overall.
Losing 10% of engineering stuff is exactly like
cutting 10% of you brain.
Microsoft is doing a lot of great things right now (in
terms of software performance, quality and usability).
Laying off real engineers will be a bad thing for
Microsoft's future. - Posted by: Xentrax Posted on: 01/06/09 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
