Yes... in theory
Alright, to ansswer your question, I believe Microsoft has an answer, in theory. We need to see it work in the real world.

This will work, if for example, I am user A, and I own Data A. And User B is someone I trust, so I grant him a 'ticket' to access a certain part of Data A, for a small window of time. When User B comes on, and the Federated User Id is acknolowedge by the Cloud that the entity claiming to be User B is User B, then User B's ticket is accepted by my Security, and he gets access to the small part of Data A for the small window of time granted.

So you can see how this would work, and not work. The Cloud is trusted to tell us that User B is actually User B. So those that can trick the Cloud into being a fake User B, in success, get access to my data.

But how is that different that today? With getting into a companies network? Honestly I would rank them about the same... except over time, it will be easier to access a companies network and fake to be a user, vs. faking the cloud. Based on sheer number of messaures that will exist.

You can still argue the point of privacy though, unless I have full control over my data, to the very encryption, and that the Cloud really can't see my data. It's an encrypt chunk of information running in some fabric space. Only I give access to my data, and only that access grants visibility into my data.

When we reach that.. to where no matter what the Cloud even does, it can't see my data that lives on it, and I can truly control who does, then theory will become reality.

I know I went on and on... but does this make sense?
