Tempting thought.....
.... to design windows without a thought towards backwards compatibility. I'm sure the end product would be a huge improvement.

The real question is, would the superiority gained outweigh the deficit of "all new apps." Would business, which just wants the thing to work, go for it?

I don't know. It would have to be one HUGE improvement - like running twice as fast on half the resources.
