Gates Vision
Here's the thing that without his vision of an OS on every computer in the world. The internet would've never prospered like it did so quickly. The reason I say that because his decision to build an ecosystem that developers can build on top of accelerated the price drop in affordable computers. He is the most influential person in technology, bar none. Without him we might still be paying 1500 to 2000 dollars for Apple only computers or better yet we would've had more problems right now trying to figure out which computer we going to buy because its so many Linux distro's on so many machines (If you work on the Tier 2 support calls like I do you will understand why its good to have only one two choices). Consumers is already technological handicapped. If Gates vision wasn't where it was at the time. The technology industry would've never caught on so quick with the consumer.
