Even the CEO thinks there is an image problem.

Disclaimer: I'm not a Vista user. That said, from all reports I have heard, I wouldn't buy a Vista machine. Just yesterday I was talking to a colleague who had bought a "Vista capable" laptop about a year ago. It was a lower spec laptop when bought. She told me she had just down"up"graded to XP and was loving it. The machine was snappy and responsive. She was annoyed though that she had to go through a year of slow, unresponsive computing. Her partner is buying a Mac for his next machine because of her experience.

That's just one report. I have spoken to others that have considered doing the same thing. They are unimpressed with Vista. I hear and read media reports about how bad it is all the time. Hey, even Ed Bott, Microsoft's No. 1 ticket holder, is up to Part 5 of his series "How to fix Vista."

You're right when you say that people that haven't used Vista bash it or just plain dismiss it. That's human nature when negativity surrounds something. But, I will ask you this. If someone tells you a restaurant is crap, even if they had heard it second hand, would you go that restaurant? Word of mouth advertising is the best form available. It's also the most destructive. Microsoft would do well to understand that.

Good luck in the future with Vista, I hope it keeps running well for you.
