Though I see little reason to believe Ozzie was the right choice and know there are those within Microsoft who also think so, Booch would have been a far worse choice. He's a hopeless academic with even less to offer. Sure, we've seen Gates fond fantasies concerning software modelling emerge in different ways, at different times, including the formation of their horrendously hideous 'Patterns and Practices' group, but the last thing Microsoft needs is to be wasteing ever more time and money on things that just don't matter...
