Giorgio....you only tell part of the story, why?
Microsoft has "innovated" as much as Apple and any Linux distro.

Unless you can tell me one great innovation that came directly out of either of these systems?

Linux is nothing but an entire ripoff of Unix/minux, down to the core. Totally modeled after Unix/Minix. Some say with code in hand in fact. I think that is a possibility but I don't know that for sure, but either way, they took Unix and cloned it for the most part and then added features to try and keep up with Microsoft.

Apple took their original technology from xerox and the PARC projects. from there they directly took BSD as the engine for their OS and part of the Mach kernel. They've only "added on" not innovated.

But Microsoft has made stellar products out of ok ones. Take SQL sever. When they aquired that, it was nothing near the world class and ubiquitous SQL Server product it is today. SQL 2005 is brilliant and each iteration has more of the WinFS project added in. There was a lot of great innovation to come out of that long WinFS project and MS is using it across many products now. It's the non flashy things that MS innovates, core technologies like ActiveX and COM that may be complex but are very very powerful and are to this day powering the worlds leading Office software system.

MSO 2007 is revolutionary and innovation at it's best. They took the best Office Suite in the world, and turned it into something even greater that has changed the face of Office apps forever.

Now I suppose you are going to tell me that since BMW or Ferrari did not make the very first automobile, they are just ripoffs using the same technology, so are therefore pieces of junk. That would follow your logic.

There are close to one billion people that disagree with your tasteless comments.
