Hi: I am not so sure that Microsoft folks can think rationally about anything regarding Google.

I saw an amusing quote from Google CEO Eric Schmidt the other day (from the Google shareholder meeting): "It's a good lesson for businesses that it's very easy to go off the rails if you get distracted."

I think this applies quite well to Microsoft in Google' case. They are so obsessed with Google that they are making ill-informed decisions and focusing insufficiently on what matters. Just my two cents, as always. mj
