I'd say its most likely because MS tries to be all
things to everybody.

And with the monopoly that is windows they have
a quick foot in the door to badly copy and kill off
most competitors.

Funny how Multi touch devices are suddenly
coming out of the MS labs.

As for the consumer devices like the XBox which is
cool but not a run-off financial success.. the Zune
which is a failure by any measure... and now
Search advertising.... it all just illustrates how bad
MS is in markets they dont have monopolies on.

I dont care what anyone says...MS is in trouble and
they know it. Say what you will about Linux and
OS X but they are picking up ground. And with
Free software easily available... like office suites
and web based software gaining popularity MS has
a tough fight ahead of them. I'm not saying MS is
going anywhere fast... but if windows and/or
office is threatened its gonna force change in
redmond one way or another.
