Perhaps alienating Microsoft is good.
Maybe the folks at OLPC intended to alienate MS. Companies dealing with MS often find themselves bullied into actions that only benefit MS. I surely wouldn't want to answer to Bill and Steve. Especially Steve.

From MS's standpoint, in developing countries, they would rather have Windows in front of the masses for little or nothing as opposed to not having exposure at all. Putting Windows on the OLPC machine can only be good for MS. Unless of course their OS is such a bloated monster that it won't run efficiently on the laptop. Personally I suspect this to be the case.

Lastly, if Bill is trying to be the great philanthropist he purports to be, wouldn't he want to help those who benefit most from the OLPC - less fortunate kids?
