Microsoft: 100 million copies of Vista sold at retail

Hard to believe: I'm sorry, but this alleged 100 million number for RETAIL sales of an operating system (doesn't matter who makes it) sounds more like a big corporate lie than the truth.

Here are some simple facts that make the alleged count unbelievable:
- Average Joe does not buy an OS in a box. Average Joe gets the OS included with a new computer every 5+ years and may not even know how to get it up-to-date (updates).
- Most computer geeks don't pay RETAIL. They are smart enough to get an OEM version or a pirated copy.
- Corporate will never purchase RETAIL. They will get a bulk license.
- If you look at history, not even XP can claim 100M of RETAIL sales.

Lets also look at some very well know facts about today's Vista:
- A lot of people are "downgrading" from Vista to XP for many reasons.
- Only a few very small business have "tried" Vista. The majority are avoiding it like a plague.
- Vista is not in the upgrade radar of most corporate business
- Vista has no features that compel people into upgrading from XP. Except for a totally new UI (that most people hate), Vista provides nothing worth paying for retail.
