No, you are not alone in associating abbreviations or anagrams with their older uses when companies try to make them mean something different. Snurfing has nothing to do with cable Internet access and WPF brings up images of the BSOD. I'm surprised MS hasn't taken BSOD for the initials of something "new and wonderful".

As for my Vista experience, MSIE was killed by one of MS's Critical Updates about two weeks after I got my machine last May, WMP hiccoughs several times at 0:18 left in every mp3 (Winamp & iTunes play the files cleanly), and WMP takes about a minute to move between playing songs in the same HDD folder. Also, the conflicts between Vista and Palm Desktop/HotSync have caused Vista to kill off two USB ports so I can no longer back up my Palm onto my HDD.
