I'm running RC of the SP for both Vista and XP on systems here (not any critical systems thought ...) and what I'm seeing is that XP SP3 looks like mostly bug fixes and the impact of performance isn't really noticeable.

With Vista SP1, I'm seeing some performance improvements but nothing earth-shattering either. That said I'm running Vista on pretty high-spec systems and I'm not finding it all that sluggish in the first place. I would say that bootup seems faster, as does the overall snappiness of the interface. I'd also say that indexing doesn't feel as heavy as it used to. I've not benched any games under SP1 but based on feel alone, I've not noticed any real improvements yet. I'm still holding to the view that gamers should stick with XP until graphics drivers mature more and maybe even wait and see what SP2 brings.
