Microsoft and Sun agree to support each other in virtualized environments

At last!

People have a reason to purchase Sun hardware. One which Sun will not devalue by sacrifice to open source.

Quoting:

"Sun also announced that is now an official Windows Server OEM with its x64 server line, the companies said on Wednesday. The two will begin selling jointly Windows Server 2003 running on Sun hardware."

Phrasing? Is Microsoft going to be a Sun hardware reseller?


One statement may need correction:

?One hundred percent of Sun?s customers use both Solaris and Windows,? said John Fowler, Sun?s Executive Vice President of Systems, during a teleconference for press and analysts.

Undoubtedly 100% of Sun customers use Windows, but do 100% use Solaris?

I expect there are some users of Linux, not Solaris. And now that Sun is selling Microsoft products, the number of Solaris users among the Sun faithful may be expected to decline even more precipitately.
