I wouldn't rent software on their terms for any price.
I wouldn't rent software on their terms for any money, unless it was the last
software on Earth. I'll *buy* their software, if it's worth it. I have in the past, and I
hope to have the opportunity in the future.

But I'm not going to use software that's got a "drop dead if used after..." date, or
"drop dead if you don't pay" code in it for anything that matters to me. The risk of
that code screwing up and leaving me in the lurch is unacceptable. For games,
maybe, but even there... I've had copy protection code fire inappropriately over and
over again all the way back to the first copy protected game I bought sometime
around 1983...
