Awareness and Sales

Sales are down because awareness is up, not in spite of it.

There are many reviews that describe an OS that is unstable, paranoid, and
unremarkable. There is resentment over a 6 year wait and 6 billion dollar
investment in an OSX knockoff. There are out of order patches flowing already for
serious exploits.

The problem with herd mentality is the onrushing cliff. The individual experience
has been subservient to the larger "economy". Windows users who define
themselves primarily as being part of the larger market share, now question their
own criteria for choice. After this promise to abide by a fickle market's whims,
they can do little but await the market's next instructions.

Vista may become a white elephant. The options? Stay with XP? Meanwhile further
billions will be thrown down the Vista money pit. Technical stagnation will have
resulted from an inability to discard the dead weight of legacy code.

What do we think of all this? Let's wait for the poll data? Then we'll know what we
think?
