What took them so long? happy
Any serious system since the 70's has some form of a [control] command language. UNIX had Bourne shell (sh) and subsequenly the Korn shell (ksh) since its inception, so did IBM VM, even MVS/TSO and VAX-VMS.

All non-MSwin administrators recognize the power and convenience of scripting nad have leveraged it to carry out complex or tedious administration and management tasks.

I saw the previous attempts by MS to introduce Monad or PowerShell (or maybe AeroShell / LongShell ... ) which were wrought with problems.

Why is it so hard for MS to provide a decent tool to help out the people tending to its systems? I guess the era of "you pay us tons of cash to do your work behind a GUI" is looong gone, almost as long as the time it is taking then to finish Looooonghorn...
