Arrogance?
As Microsoft "gets back up" after having stumbled, I am made
to wonder what form this new humility will take. So far it's
looked remarkably like ongoing affronts to antitrust law on 3
continents. They are backstabbing partners with Zune, and
dumping millions of subsidy money on both Zune and time-
sinks like XBox. It was made clear recently, they had a hand in
SCO's pursuit of Linux. This new paragon of virtue is also
declaring licensed software as stolen through WGA flaws. 6 years
after the release of a secure and stable OSX, the consequences
from Windows exploits and fundamenntal architecture flaws
have become a mountain of wasted time and lost productivity.
Microsoft continues to pursue empire/platform to the detriment
of technology. They remain a vendor of legally binding language
and second rate code. New license terms are drawing into sharp
focus the lie of open architecture that led consumers and
business down the garden path. Business which would be better
served by thin clients are forced to pay through the nose for
these "company cars" for every employee. Consumers who would
have been better served by Apple's GUI are getting a 6 year late
low grade imitation of OSX.

Then there is Google and their "arrogance". A nice search
engine, useful maps, infrasructure, decent code? I'm still looking
for that hubris?

As Windows punditry jockies for position and contributors argue
with each other over the right to endorse the use of Windows,
many of us have moved on.

The unblinking eye focuses on Microsoft. It presumes to gain
credibility through criticism. The result is myopia in the face of
viable alternatives. The result is panderance. Without a brain
behind it, the unblinking eye is a vessel of the status quo. It will
do nothing but dutifully report on a narrow field of vision.
