Dell Studio XPS
I know you bought a Studio XPS 13 a while back and only did an initial review. My question is re the heat issue everyone seems to be complaining about. I have a SXPS 16 and from observation this system does get really hot under certain conditions and I wanted your opinion. Firstly this system will never be a laptop, as its been said, its a desktop replacement, IMO, unless you're in sub 10 degrees temp, it will get hot on lap, no going around. However i have observed its not the processor that's running hot, or even the vent issue that's probably not the best design. It seems to me to be the heat conductivity of the casing itself, if I'm in an AC room or I ave a fan turned on me, it quite fine, I can rest my hand on this thing all day (well except for that area on the front right below touch-pad, that's always hot or very warm - HDD position). However if I'm in a ventilated non AC room with no fan directly on this, it gets too hot to even type comfortably. So do u have any such issues with the SXPS 13 and whats Dell said to you re. And why I'm almost sure its not a vent issue, if I close the lid for an extended period when I'm using external monitor, there's no noticeable human diff in temp, though some report software temperature drops, it doesn't translate to cooler usage.
