What's the hardware
The reason for the 48XX series is for the additional streaming processors and Memory Interface. the memory interface only has 128. So I wouldn't recommend this card as a replacement for the 4830.

Also, the 4800 series has 800 Streaming processors while the 4830 series only has 640. The 4770 does have 640 streaming processors, so it's the same size as the 4830, but it will run slower for newer games such as Crysis where the 48XX series will run it smoother.

I know you're reporting the information, but I'm specifying the longevity of a Video card. The reason, I'm currently running an X1900GT, 3 generations behind the HD 4870 card and it runs COD World At War at 40FPS under default settings.

yeah the card can process things quickly, but it can't move it fast enough with out the Memory Bus. so you WILL see a lack in the Frame Rate for First Person Shooter games.
