Vista slows nothing down. Only the uninformed assume that - they assume it because of the early experiences before good drivers and fixes, after trying it for a day or so during indexing and superfetch optimization, because of the slightly higher RAM foot print (which has NO effect so long as you have enough RAM,) and because of Aero - which in fact runs on the GPU and video RAM and does not slow down anything either, and which you can simply turn off if you are using shared video. As for the hard drive space . . . so what, hard drive space is dirt cheap. You are using the same rules of thumb we used in the early days of XP. I see this all the time. It's time to move on.

The results of the study Adrian and others have done bear all this out.

Too many 'experts' have staked their reputation on Vista being forever and always like ME - they are now drifting into irrationality as the actual reasons for disliking Vista have turned to vapor.
